Block B Elementary Functions PSP: Sorry, almost forgot to post... No homework, but study the 10 basic functions. Quiz tomorrow will have you identify both by picture and by property. Don't rely simply upon what we have done in class -- go over each function and be able to identify continuity, domain, boundedness and asymptotes.

Block B Elementary Functions PSP: P. 165, 1-18all. Realize what a large focus is put on these basic functions, and knowing the domain and range of any function. These are two of the most basic, yet important pieces to the course. In the coming chapters, we will be working with each of the functions and transforming them by moving them up, down, left, right and streching or shrinking them. Being able to correctly identify the type of function, as well as its respective domain and range is key to the course.

Block B Elementary Functions PSP: I did not check homework today to be sure you had the assignment... This means I will be checking 3 days worth of assignments TOMORROW starting with what was due on Monday.
Due Monday: P.102 3,4,5,6,9,10,17,18,20,21,24,26,32,34,44,46,47,48,52
Due Tuesday (today): P. 160-161 1-10 all and 23-33 odd
Due Wednesday: P.114 35-42 all
All three will be checked and given equal credit as separate assignments -- try to be sure to have all 3 for full credit. Also, because my tissues have all disappeared, if you bring a new box of tissues in for the class, you will receive a no-homework pass that you can use at any date for one assignment. I will honor this offer through the rest of the week.

I am sorry about the delay in updates, I am having trouble accessing the site to POST at school. For some reason I can view, but not edit or create posts at school, and this is causing me trouble keeping this site up to date. I hope to have it completely remedied by the end of next week, but in the mean time check back or ask a friend to be sure you have the correct assignment.

Block C Elementary Functions PSP: No new homework, but if you didn't get what you are capable of on the test that I handed back today, you might want to consider going over your old work, and reading section 1.1 before class tomorrow.

Block B Elementary Functions PSP: Please finish the assignment from class on Thursday. See you on Monday!
Block C Elementary Functions PSP: Sorry for the delay in posting. I hope you all enjoyed the show today, and congratulations on a fine job to all that were in it.
The assignment is to finish the problem from class: A boy wants to hit a baseball high enough to hit an airplane that is 5280ft high in the air. What is the initial upward velocity that he must pass on to the ball for it to soar at least as high as the airplane?
In class we worked through much of the problem. I will try to list the information that we have produced, but you should try to work through from start to finish.
First, we "know" two points: ( 0,0 ) and ( tf,0 ) {tf = time final} The problem implies another point, ( tf/2,5280 ) -- this point would be the vertex of the parabola, and would be between any two points with the same y-value.
We have the vertical motion formula: h(t)= -16t^2 + vt +h where h(t) is the height at time t, t is the time, v is the velocity, and h is the initial height. Plugging in the vertex, we solved for v as v=(10560/tf)+4tf
Work through by plugging in the points you know and the velocity from above. You should be able to find an actual value for velocity. Once you get your answer, reread the question and adjust accordingly. Good luck!

Block B Elementary Functions PSP: Hope everything went well with your first day of PSSAs, only two more to go! Again, if you did not already see, the assignment should be modified, if you have trouble with 1-15 odd, just look at # 1,2,4,6,19,20
Block C Elementary Functions PSP: I hope your PSSAs went well and things came together with the assignment in class. The homework for tonight is to finish the previous assignment, and we will look through it tomorrow.

Block B Elementary Functions PSP: Please look over section P5 in your books and attempt to do P. 50, # 1,2,4,6,19,20 -- if you have trouble with what I said in class (1-15 odd). I will see you on Wednesday, good luck with your PSSA's!
Block C Elementary Functions PSP: I mentioned that this is a "suggested" homework, as I know you have PSSA exams tomorrow. Do your best to at least look it over, and find some time between now and Friday to get it done, as homework is the best way to study for the upcoming exams. P. 50, #2,4,6,7,12,13,19,20,24,30 Good luck with the PSSA's!

Block B Elementary Functions PSP: Please work through the worksheet that you received in class, the examples should help you. Homework is to do the evens on both sides, but you may work through evens and odds if you aren't fully comfortable with the material. I will not have you for class tomorrow because of the college fair, so your quiz will be on Monday. Study interval notation, circles and solving inequalities.

Block B Elementary Functions PSP: Thank you for visiting the site. I am having some trouble accessing it from school to update, so I won't be posting too much information here for now, but that should change soon. Your homework tonight is from the worksheet, please complete the problems on the left column, starting with the absolute value equations. Remember, absolute value equations have two solutions!
