Block A Geometry PSP: P. 477, 3-27 multiples of 3
Block B Elementary Functions PSP: P. 366-367, look over 3-54 multiples of 3. Nice job in class today, I realize it took a long time, but you all worked hard and found how to get each distance that you wanted. Also, I liked seeing the different ways you used to estimate the area of each garden piece -- this is leading you to calculus.
For those of you "worried" about the quiz, be sure you can convert from Decimal Degrees to Degrees Minutes Seconds ( DD => DMS ) and from degress to radians and back. Additionally, know the meaning of Sin, Cos and Tan (the ratios), but you do not have to know the values for the special angles yet.

Block A Geometry PSP: Finish the following problems from the worksheet: 28-33 all and 36-38all
Block B Elementary Functions PSP: Look through your homework and re-try problems you had incorrect. Next, look through the chapter review on pages 344-346, problems 1-45 and 59-65 should be your focus. Expect to see something like 93 or 94 on the exam also. There will be two parts to the test: 1 part will be done without calculators, the other with. Do not worry, the no calculator section will be very light on the math, high in concept and recognition. Part a will be from problems 1-18, 27-38 and 59-62, part be will cover the rest of the problems.
Think about the 3 basic functions that we covered in this chapter: Logarithmic, logistic and exponential -- how do they look? How can you change them?
Part a will be from problems 1-18, 27-38 and 59-62, part be will cover the rest of the problems.

Block A Geometry PSP: Worksheet # 1-6, 15-27 multiples of 3, 35*
Block B Elementary Functions PSP: P. 341, 1-12 all --- note that eventually you will complete P. 341 4-28 multiples of 4, 47, 48, 51-56. Also, chapter 3 test has been scheduled for Wednesday. This will happen then, we may wrap back around and touch more on logarithmic functions again later, but for now we need to keep moving.
Also, if you have not already turned in your project from Friday (the half-life problem) be sure that you do so soon. This project is worth another 50 points and 10 points are deducted for EACH day late.

Block B Elementary Functions PSP: Look at P297 29-41 odds and be sure you have your project done when you come back wednesday. Your project can be typed or hand written neatly by using ONE SIDE of the paper. It is fine (and expected) that your final draft will carry over to 2 or 3 pages, but be sure you only write on one side of the paper. Also, be sure your project is accompanied by an accurate, clear graph with YOUR regression equation accurately graphed and the coordinates from the problem clearly labeled.

Block B Elementary Functions PSP: Population growth can be modeled one of two ways, either with a basic exponential equation ( y = a * b^x or written with initial population as Po, Population(t) = Po * b^x read as "population as a function of time equals the initial population times b to the x power." You can also use a logistic equation to model the situation if the population cannot go above a certain number (c). The logistic equation is y = ( c ) / ( 1 + a * b^x) and can be seen on page 283. Things to remember about the logistic equation are: 1. C is your maximum sustainable population, 2. (c)/(1+a) is the initial population, and 3. if b is greater than 1, the population is shrinking , if b is less than 1 but greater than zero then the population is growing as time increases.
Things to remember from Friday: y = a * b^x can be written as y = a * (1+-r)^x where r is the rate at which the function is increasing (if +r) or decreasing (if -r). The basic population model can then be assimilated to this formula as P(t) = Po * (1+-r)^x and follow the same rules as just stated.

Block B Elementary Functions PSP: Look at P.296 7-14 all, and please finish the final draft of your project. I will give you the holiday to finish them, so have everything done by Wednesday.
Included when you turn in your project should be:
Complete accurate graph with a reasonable scale
Explanation (for #2) of how and why you chose your vertex coordinates, as well as the other point used to create the equation of the parabola.
Explanation (for #3) of what a,h,k do to the function as well as what would happen to the ball
Explanation (for #5) of why your equation is different from the regression equation that the calculator creates

Block A Geometry PSP:p. 384 3-18 multiples of 3, 16, 20, 32**featured problem, when checking homework, if you skip this problem you will not get credit for the whole assignment! Try something!!!
Block B Elementary Functions PSP: P. 287 51-55 all... When working on the problems, when you get your b value, DO NOT truncate your numbers at 2 decimal places, take it out to at least 5 places if not more. Also, don't try to use an exponential regression -- you need more than 2 points to get an accurate expreg.
