Block A Geometry PSP:Looks like the chapter test will be Thursday. Homework is P. 322 3-36 multiples of 3
Vocab-books will be due Wednesday. Details: Create a vocabulary picture-book. List the 10 vocabulary terms with definitions and an appropriate picture. You may use a computer, or do this by hand, but each of the 10 terms must have an appropriate, unique picture associated with them. List definitions IN YOUR OWN WORDS, do not copy from other sources, but you may look to find help with some of the terms online. Images must be hand drawn, or done using Geometer's Sketchpad in school. The ten terms in no particular order are:
Perpendicular Bisector
Circumcenter
Median of a triangle
Altitude of a triangle
Centriod
Incenter
Orthocenter
Angle Bisector
Midpoint
Midsegment
Block B Elementary Functions PSP: Chapter test will be Wednesday. Look for topics from chapter 2 to include:
Polynomials (characteristics like domain, range, continuity, ect...)
Factor Theorem
Remainder Theorem
Rational Zeros Theorem
Complex Numbers (Multiplication and division)
Roots and zeros of functions
Rational Functions (characteristics and solving)
Block C Geometry PSP:P. 322 3-36 multiples of 3,
P.332 20-36 evens
to be turned in at the bell tomorrow.

Block A Geometry PSP: Quiz is done, now study for the chapter test next week. Also, keep up with your vocabulary so we can do a vocabulary picture-book.
Block B Elementary Functions PSP: Finish your take home quiz, and look over rational functions. I am going to "finish the chapter" monday, and we will test on WEDNESDAY -- be ready. All sections will be covered, but not all of the ideas will be covered (like synthetic division, don't worry about it...). I will try to post a list of topics this weekend, but for now I'm headed home to enjoy a long bike ride with the dog.
Block C Geometry PSP: Sophomores, we will get some time to finish our vocabulary picture books soon, in the mean time, study the terms. Freshmen, you will only have one class period to get this done, so partner up with a Sophomore that can help you work through the project next week.

Block B Elementary Functions PSP: Easy homework (hopefully) p234 21-26 all Easy quiz tomorrow, and another quiz Friday.
Someone (being that I don't have permission and it is technically illegal for me to mention one of your names online, I cannot say whom, but it is not important other than for being credited for being observant) pointed out I made the mistake of saying that
(a+b)*(a-b) = a^2 + b^2 in class. I was applying the complex case to real numbers which does not work. I should have put:
(a+b)*(a-b) = a^2 - b^2 for real numbers.
It is sill correct that (a+bi)*(a-bi) = a^2 + b^2 for imaginary numbers.
The specific case was (10c + 2d)*(10c - 2d) = 100c^2 - 4d^2

Block B Elementary Functions PSP: P. 57-58 3-39 multiples of 3... 18 and 21 might fall into the category of "so easy, it's easy to get wrong" kind of questions, but 24 and 27 make up for that. 24, read it twice, write it out, look at it again and a strategy should come to you. 27, foil, foil and foil again -- it'll come "clean". 33,36 and 39 you must remember to multiply by the complex conjugate first!

Block B Elementary Functions PSP: p. 223-224 3-24, 33-36, and 45-48 multiples of 3.
Number 9 and 12 ask you to use synthetic division to solve, but just use the division algorithm as you did in 3 and 6.
Speaking of 12, you might want to use some "extra terms" in your dividend. Try
(x^8 + 0x^7 + 0x^6 + 0x^5 + 0x^4 + 0x^3 + 0x^2 + 0x - 1 ).
Similarly, when doing 6, you should see all of your terms disappear if you follow the division algorithm as in class.
As for the quiz, there is one regression problem, one polynomial function, several functions which you must decide if they are polynomial functions and one more problem.

Block A Geometry PSP: Class did not meet because of the PSAT testing. You were to complete the Mural work in class on TUESDAY, and turn it in by Thursday -- I will give you until Friday, but it must be done by then. Also, be ready for the chapter test come Friday.
Block B Elementary Functions PSP: I met with the Seniors and we talked more about polynomial functions. Please please please look over chapter P5, pages 53-55, I fear that we are getting a little behind.
Block C Geometry PSP: We met today and discussed the Mural project. This is due FRIDAY, no exceptions. Also, be ready for the chapter test come Friday.

Block B Elementary Functions PSP: P. 196-197 1-33odd (you did most in class) and 37-42 all. If you weren't in class, be sure to ask someone (even me) for the solution to #64 from yesterday, and be sure you have looked over 64 from p199 and understand it. Also, I reminded the class to keep their homework together in one notebook and be sure to bring it to class because it is about time for a homework quiz...

Block A Geometry PSP: Finish the worksheet for 4.2 but you may skip 5 and 6.
Block B Elementary Functions PSP: Talking about vertical motion (in one dimension) we were working on #64 from p 185. The question was whether or not we could find the value of Vo. So far we have (sorry these are hard to read)
Height(as a function of time)
H(t) = -16t^2+Vot+0 (the initial height is zero)
We said that we can solve for Vo and it looks like
Vo = (16t^2 + 48) / t or simplified as Vo = 16t + 48/t
We also "knew" two points: (0,0) and (X2,0) so the vertex is located along the axis of symmetry which is x=((X2+0)/2)
Now, this isn't an exact # yet, because we don't know the value of X2, but we can use it still and try to come up with a formula. Think about when we had a V and P (i.e. #43 and 44 from p 183) and we were able to create vertex form equations for parabolas -- is this any different? If you can't figure it out, and you've honestly looked at it for more than 5 minutes TRYING something, please email me. I have the worked out solution that I'd love to share. Also, be sure you bring your homework notebook to class tomorrow.
