Algebra I: Thanks to the delay we didn't have much time. I handed out a study guide for square roots and real numbers, please be sure you finish it for tomorrow. Speaking of, the benchmark is tomorrow! Be ready!

Algebra II: Please be sure you finished the worksheet on exponential functions. We will be working on one more project with exponential functions before we move on, so be sure it is clicking, or try to make it to tutoring.

Algebra I: Remember: Benchmark exam is WEDNESDAY! Study your parent functions and order of operations. Also try to remember to have your calculator in class Wednesday because I cannot hand out any on test day. If you were here Friday, you got the worksheet for homework tonight. Otherwise, you got it in class today -- link from before still applies for box and whiskers plots, and you can find histograms in the same place.

Algebra II: 4 problems using the calculator for exponential decay and growth. Remember the basic model, and keep an eye on your answers, if it is growth, your answers should get bigger, not smaller, and the other way around.

Algebra I: Finish the Pittsburgh Portrait packet. If you need help with box and whiskers plots, look here: http://regentsprep.org/regents/Math/data/boxwhisk.htm

Algebra II:Nice job on the quizzes, I will have them for you tomorrow when I see you!

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Algebra I: P. 885, 3-10all. Nice job on the tests, just be sure to study the parent functions and families of functions for the benchmark. Speaking of, the date was announced at my meeting today, Wednesday the 27th! Be ready!!!

Algebra II: Be sure your graphs are done, and please look through the coach books, they really are a great resource for the PSSA.

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Algebra I: Finish the worksheet on mean, median and mode, be sure you have finished the Pittsburgh portrait problem through #2.

Algebra II: Section 7.2, graph 3-6 all.

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Algebra I: Sorry, somehow didn't remember to post on Friday. Assignment from Friday was P. 57, # 1,4,7, 10-14, 16-17 and 19. Tonight's assignment is to study for the Unit 1 test. Unit 1 covers chapter 1 and chapter 4 sections 1 and 2 only. Also, be familiar with the parent functions (linear, quadratic, exponential, and absolute value), being sure you can state formulas for each.

Algebra II: Please finish your packet on exponential growth problems. Notice that adding a number to the exponent moves the graph left or right, and adding it after applying the exponent will move the function up or down.

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

Algebra I: There was a very short worksheet for homework. First, you need to look at the given input information ( zero for all ) and figure out the output for that input (also known as the starting value or y-intercept). Next, look at the equation given, identify the slope (the coefficient of x) and finally rewrite the y-intercept. Do your best!

Algebra II:P. 482 3-11, please graph carefully, and do your best to get this done but make sure you are well rested for tomorrow's PSSA writing exam.

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

Algebra I: Finish our worksheet on functions and graphing. Please look back over the last worksheet and try to graph the middle section again. I will formally assign this set of problems again tomorrow, along with a few more problems, so please try to stay ahead of things!

Algebra II: Many people made decent progress on the tutor, plan to talk about it in class tomorrow. For tonight, think about how y=a*b^x applies to the model y=a*(1 +or- r)^x *** note: +or- means either + or -, depending on the problem. There will be a very short assignment tomorrow because of PSSA testing, but please rest well tonight and make it in on time tomorrow!

BOTH: Don't forget, you can always be working on the SAT online program at http://www.kaplank12.com

Monday, February 11th, 2008

Algebra I: We worked on solving functions for y - so that they may be graphed. Please make sure you finish the worksheet for tomorrow, if you were not in class, you may be able to download it here. (you have to type the code written in the box)

Algebra II: Please complete the worksheet on graphing exponential equations. You must label your y-intercept and be careful not to cross the asymptote.

Friday, February 8th, 2008

Algebra I: P. 209 3-23 all Be sure that you realize that coordinates are listed as (domain, range) and (input, output).

Algebra II: Tests looked ok, but you really needed to look closer at #1 and 2.

We'll continue on Monday talking about exponential functions. Try to think about ways they are similar or different from polynomial functions.

Thursday, February 7, 2008

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

Algebra I: We will be working with functions for the rest of the unit, and rest of the semester, please be sure you understand the domain and range, and how to tell if a list represents a function. Homework is P. 38-39 9-21 all, and 26

Algebra II: Please study your packets, the test tomorrow will have probability, odds, combinations and a shirt/pants/shoes type problem on it. Study!!!

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

Algebra I: P.32 16, 18-21 . Also, try to think of a function. What is the domain? What is the range? Try to apply it to your bus schedule, or maybe dinner at home?

Algebra II: Finish your packet and be ready to test tomorrow.

Tuesday, February 5, 2008

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

Algebra I: We are finishing with patterns and will move on to functions tomorrow. Please complete p. 33's quiz section, #2-6 even and p. 34, 1-3 all.

Algebra II: Please finish the probability packet that you received in class today. We will have 3 new pages tomorrow and discuss combinations and permutations one more time. Look for the unit test on Thursday or Friday.

Monday, February 4, 2008

Monday, February 4th, 2008

Algebra I: We finished the Blocks task and talked about creating models from verbal descriptions and pictures. Tomorrow we'll look at another set of figures and try to create an expression, then move on to some more equation solving. Homework is to finish the worksheet I gave you which has 5 verbal models that you have to create equations/inequalities for, and to crate a pattern of 3 or 4 figures, then describe in a sentence how the pattern continues. Then, write a rule for your created patten. Remember, write in the provided space so that your partner can work on the pattern tomorrow.

Algebra II: Please finish the combinations/permutations worksheet that I gave you for tomorrow. I will be giving you a packet to finish out our probability unit. Look for the unit test on Thursday or Friday.

Saturday, February 2, 2008

Friday, February 1st, 2008

Algebra I: If you were missing, you need to find me and ask for the worksheet that we started in class. The homework is to find the pattern in the figures and write a rule for the pattern.

Algebra II: Please finish the Steelers task and also work on the worksheet I gave you. I will collect the Steelers task on Monday, and the following worksheet on Tuesday.
